The House Oversight Subcommittee on Corporate Subsidies and State Investment, livestreaming here at 10:30 a.m., will hear testimony from officials and residents of Green Township on the Gotion electric vehicle battery project. The proposed plant, which received widespread backlash in the community, was awarded taxpayer-funded economic incentives, even though Gotion is a Chinese company tied to the Chinese Communist Party.
The hearing scrutinizing Gotion comes a day after theHouse approved a plan to restrict the influence of China and other foreign adversaries in Michigan. The bills passed with bipartisan support.
