1. Judge blocks National Guard deployment to Portland —
   A federal judge in Oregon issued a temporary order halting the Trump administration’s plan to send Guard troops, ruling protests outside the ICE facility don’t meet the threshold for rebellion. The order also restricts out-of-state Guard deployments into Oregon.

2. Schumer Shutdown: Day 6 — The federal government remains partially closed with no deal in sight. The Senate is expected to vote on a revised short-term funding bill today, but it’s unclear if there’s enough common ground to reopen agencies as essential services strain and workers remain unpaid.
3. Michigan passes $81B budget before deadline —
   Lawmakers approved a record plan that Speaker Matt Hall calls a win for workers and taxpayers. GOP says it cut 2,000 “ghost jobs” without layoffs and delivers targeted tax relief by eliminating state taxes on tips, OT, and Social Security income. Final approval came just ahead of a shutdown.
