  1. Retired meteorologist Terri DeBoer has officially launched her Republican campaign to unseat Democratic Congresswoman Hillary Scholten in Michigan’s Third Congressional DistrictDeBoer, a familiar face and voice across the region for more than three decades, spent much of her career delivering the weather on local TV stations—including nearly 30 years at WOOD TV8 and more recently at FOX 17. She stepped away from broadcasting earlier this year and is now turning her focus to Washington.

In her campaign launch, DeBoer positions herself as a political outsider, vowing to fight for border security, lower costs for families, fiscal responsibility, and keeping West Michigan communities safe. She says the district—long a Republican stronghold until Scholten flipped it in 2022—is ready for a change.

DeBoer filed her campaign paperwork earlier this week and is the first Republican to enter the race so far. The primary is set for August, with the general election in November.

  2. Noem out.. but was she fired? In a major administration shake-up, President Trump announced Thursday that Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem is being replaced, effective March 31, 2026, with Oklahoma Senator Markwayne Mullin nominated to take over the role.

Trump described the move as a reassignment, praising Noem’s service—particularly on border security—and appointing her as Special Envoy for the new “Shield of the Americas” initiative focused on Western Hemisphere security and dismantling cartels.

However, many reports characterize it as a firing, citing mounting frustrations over her handling of immigration enforcement, controversial spending (including a high-profile ad campaign), fatal incidents involving federal agents, and intense bipartisan criticism during recent congressional hearings.

As of now, Noem remains in her DHS position until the end of the month, with the transition highlighting internal tensions in the administration.

  3. FEB JOBS NUMBERS ARE OUTWeak jobs report for February (-92k). Healthcare took a hit due to strikes (will reverse) and federal government jobs still dropping, which used to be a big inflator of these numbers. Some good news: Average hourly earnings grew 3.8% year-over-year, so that’s a real wage gain.
