The final House vote is expected by Thursday, just ahead of Trump’s self‑imposed July 4 deadline.”
It includes sweeping Trump‑era tax cuts, increased child and tip credits, major cuts to Medicaid, food‑stamp programs, and green‑energy incentives, and would balloon the federal deficit by an estimated $3.3 trillion over the next decade.
Trump personally lobbied wavering Republicans, posting on Truth Social that “MAGA is not happy,” while Democrats strongly opposed the bill, calling it a giveaway to the wealthy at low‑income Americans’ expense.

Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs was denied bail today after a federal jury convicted him on two counts of transporting individuals across state lines for prostitution—under the Mann Act—while acquitting him of more serious racketeering and sex-trafficking charges. Judge Arun Subramanian ruled he poses a danger to the community and a flight risk. Combs, now back in custody at the Brooklyn Metropolitan Detention Center, faces up to 20 years in prison; sentencing is tentatively set for October 3 but could be moved up. Federal job cuts under Trump’s new ‘Department of Government Efficiency’—nicknamed DOGE—are now starting to show up in the U.S. jobs report. While overall payroll growth for June is expected to be weak—around +110,000 jobs, down from +139,000 last month—the surge in federal worker layoffs is dragging numbers lower and pushing up the unemployment rate to roughly 4.3%. Economists say DOGE layoffs, combined with broader spending cuts and policy uncertainty, are slowly cracking what’s been a resilient labor market
